||INTRODUCTION||
Let's be sincere there is absolutely no one on earth that doesn't one way or the other have any history of corruption be it kids or even babies as we all know some of them use to purposely bites their mothers breast
So in my today's entry I will be sharing with you guys the meanings of corruption, forms of corruption, causes, ways of preventing and much more so sit back read, learn and enjoy
WHAT IS CORRUPTION?
According to my own understanding the word corruption it is not a process rather it is an act. Therefore corruption can be defined as an illegal acts and dishonest behaviour by people which is against the law.
And it is mostly done by people entrusted with a post in an organisation or political authority for the purpose of acquiring extra benefits to themselves
MENTION AND EXPLAIN 5 FORMS OF CORRUPTION YOU KNOW.
There are basically different forms of corruption but below I will least a few of them and there are;
Bribery
Vote buying
Embezzlement
Illegal political financing
Nepotism
BRIBERY
This is one of the greatest and the most common forms of corruption in our country, it is the process whereby a person bribes another with money or any other thing (gifts, post, discount) in other to get advantage over others and more support
VOTE BUYING
This is mostly common in a democratic state like Nigeria, it is the process that is mostly common during time for an election. It is the process whereby the citizens are being given money or any form of gift in other to oblige them to give out their support
EMBEZZLEMENT
This is a form of corruption that is widely practiced all round the world, it involves the illegal channelling of finances to a personal portfolio for self benefits only
ILLEGAL POLITICAL FINANCES
It is the process whereby an individual or company business gets support due to law amendment in favour of their business due to some certain form of relationship example the tobacco company gets approved by government because of the certain amount of money government gets from them inform of tax.
NEPOTISM
This is the illegal used of power to give out job employment and contracts to family members or friends. It is the worse form of corruption because it exclude and disregard other parties
GIVE 4 CAUSES OF CORRUPTION IN OUR SOCIETY.
There are so many causes of corruption in our society today and some of them are;
Greed and unnecessary desire for money
Lack of contentment
Low level freedom of the press
High level bureaucracy and low political transparency
Greed being the major causes of corruption as people are no longer contented with what there have, and also the press are influenced by political authorities and are afraid and scared of exposing them and lastly there is no check and balance in the political system.
EXPLAIN 5 WAYS CORRUPTION CAN BE PREVENTED?
They 5 ways in which corruption can be prevented are;
Immediate reporting of bribery case found done by government
Exposing political leaders of their illegal acts
Ensuring that the public sector workers work according to the interest of the public
Keep the public sector discipline to encourage transparency
Joining hands together to stop dishonest practice
WHAT CAN YOU PERSONALLY DO TO PREVENT CORRUPTION IN YOUR LOCALITY.
In Nigeria corruption is an infection which has infected a lot of people till the point that an honest person is being regarded as a fool.
So what I would do personally in other to prevent corruption in my locality are, first of all I will partner with our community security team to catch and expose any form of corrupt practices found within our locality
And if I were opportune to assume any political seat first thing I would do in other to help prevent the wide spread of corruption is through youth empowerment
Because once the youth have what to do that will keep them busy all day the total level of corruption will drop
And lastly I would organised a monthly seminar that will remind the public about the dangers and punishment for those found guilty of any corrupt practices that is against the law
And as a result I will like to set up a disciplinary committee in the local level whose duty is to punish the law offenders at the local level but if the case of the corruption is serious such a person will be transferred to the police for a more severe punishment.
