WHAT IS SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT?

Social environment can be defined as the physical and social surrounding of man which consist of his family, the church, school etc.


PRIMARY SOCIAL GROUP

Primary social group can be defined as a group of people who are closely related and knows each other very well and have a close relationship with each other example the family, peer group, age grade etc.


SECONDARY SOCIAL GROUP

Secondary social group refers to the kind of relationship which exist between a group of people that are not closely related and their relationship are contracteral and official in nature example political parties, trade union, companies etc.


WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRIMARY SOCIAL GROUP AND SECONDARY SOCIAL GROUP?

Since we all now know the different meanings of social environment and it's types, so the difference between primary social group and secondary social group are as follows;


PRIMARY SOCIAL GROUP

•Members knows each other by name

•Members are closely related

•It involves a small number of people


SECONDARY SOCIAL GROUP

•Sometimes members don't even know each others names

•Members are not closely related

•Members are together in other to achieve certain goals

STATE THE FUNCTIONS OF THE FAMILY

Before we proceed to stating the functions of the family first of all let us know what is the meaning of a family.

FAMILY

A family is a group of people who are closely related by blood and also by registration and they can be either nuclear or extended depending on the family size. The different function of the family are listed below;


•The family is in charge of breeding up a child to be useful citizen in the society

•The provide food, shelter and clothing for it's members

•Takes good care of the educational needs of its members


•Providing sufficient security for it's members


WHAT IS CONFLICT AND HOW BEST CAN IT BE RESOLVED?

As a natural occurance in the humans life, and even in the animals kingdom in which the male animals fight to maintain their territory and hunt other animals in other to survive in the wild.


CONFLICT

Therefore conflict can be defined as a quarrel and disagreement that exists between two or more people and individuals due to some certain misunderstanding and differences in ideologies.


WAYS OF RESOLVING CONFLICTS

•Dialogue

•Mediation


DIALOGUE

This is a peaceful conversation between two conflicting parties in other to settle their differences**.


MEDIATION

This is the setting up of conferences like conventions where the conflicting parties will come together to negotiate and resolve their issues.
